tues..uh no..wednesday

yeah ya I’m lazy. fucking freezing garage, don’t think I’m eating enough.

started out with changing the jet between the 1e carb and the 4ef carb, main choke was 141 (up from 138) and the other one 103(from 102). not the small choke looks alot smaller on the right lower one? thats the 4ef carb.

Have loads of holes to fill, waaay to many vacuum tubes on a std 4ef.

Had what looked like an air temp sensor sticking out in the air stream. not any more.

Think I’ll put some chemical metal down there to block that hole and improve the flow.

carb on manifold hot action! gah this stupid carb is going in the bin, i’ll fit a 1.75″ SU. note the big shiny screw? that was where the start choke was. i never use it on the 1e and it’s just restricking up the tiny carb.

Been sitting there for over 2 years now..

Note where the top rad hose goes in here? see that casting that has no aperant purpose?

theres a big hole in the 4ef one, for a water temp sensor. it gets in the way of the vacuum advanced distributer.

I think that was the aircon pump. or the power steering pump. fecking heavy what ever it is.

So yeah not much done again, so cold out there. next week i think I’ll cover the cbr in plastic to protect my completely shagged hands. or not. meh. After Christmas gonna put the car on blocks for three days and put in the damn 4ef engine, it’s been over 2 years I’ve gone through loads of sodding garda checkpoints, there not interested in the fact i have no nct. whatever car i get/make next I won’t have that nct problem and cheap tax. Perhaps a post apoc car might draw a bit more attention (that turrent gun is not really very functional, officer) but hey, maybe if i pretend I’m a religious nut (church of post-apoc and survival anyone?) they’ll back off. yeah thrust pamphlets in there faces through the 3/4″ thick plate steel Armour/windows, or maybe pretends it’s an art car? (fakes blood and guts there are sir to be sure!)

So now again, not a morris minor i think, something with a seperate frame (non unibody) and has to be 30 years old to get cheap tax and nct exempt. if the apoc does come those last two things won’t matter. hope it comes quick then.

What The Hell to get?

Tuesday

didn’t do much,

tiny bit tired don’t you think? also fixed a brake light bulb and gave it a clean my mom is using it this weekend. it’s 0 degrees outside.

-11? ow, it’s -9 for me on the bike, i got ice on top of the box last night, 🙂 was tempted to make a snowball and throw it around the shop

Tuesday

Well left work on Saturday, got a card and some chocolates from Atilla, everyone sad to see me go, especially the manager as he had to hire 3 people to do my job. The last night was comical Hannan (the boss) kept fucking up the address’s and I was too busy clowning around to do much proper delivering. I give em a month, the phone bill will be astronomical from drivers calling customers to find out where there live and nobody will have a clue where that is anyway. New shop tonite I heard the manageress there is hard on incompetence, bit like I was back in GNIC (STRESS!) What do i care anyway Hannan got me this as a going away prezzie.

WTH, indeed.

Had to fix my cbr’s brakes, rhs caliper sticking this time. whipped out dust seals thew em in the bin, carefully took out the piston seals and cleaned behind them before putting them back.

Lots of air bubbles!

Had to take off caliper like this so that the bubbles have a direct path straight up to the master cylinder, after a while pumping the lever one crack of the bleed valve had me some working brakes!

Pictures Of Minors.

Morris minors of course, why what did you think i meant?

morris minor welded to a nissan 200sx, perfect place for a lexus v8. just realized this car is the only one without a roof chop 😀

Tuesday

Welded up the gaps in my wetal work today, engine comes in and out easly which is a relief. trew on some triflow/hammerite type paint. nearly all the mounts are done with now, the lower rear chain side mount is a bit iffy but that might need alot of reshaping to avoid the chain anyways so i’m gonna leave it for now. might try bargering ted into sorting out the electrics next week. might even start it…

V8!

I did not how ever bend the left front suspension back 2cms. no sir.

what the heck is half that stuff in there?, would love to weld a silvia floorpan to a minor (like cliffb) then stick this V8 in. best i probably stick to a 4age or 4afe for the lightweight win.

yeah I’m getting a minor, i could have a bigger car since it would be tax free, but I like lightweight, and the minor is affordable. and very lightweight.

Tuesday

all the mounts are in, need final welding.

With the big stuff nearly done, (the engine has to come out again to finish) started on the time consuming but easy stuff like cables.

here the rear brake setup is installed, but the engine sits to far out for the original brake pedal, so i cut it off, since ted has no right leg this is not really a problem, we can all use the hand brake.

Is that a little bent? can’t find the right clutch cable, i have one that fits the engine but does not reach the bar, it should because the throttle cable can and does reach. need to mod another cable to (probably another clutch cable) to be the brake cable, which will be installed where there front brake lever would normally be.

Winter..

really sucks.

Found this in my back garden, kawasaki 750, needs some head work but is all tidy otherwise. would make a comfy seated tourer for the gf and I.

installed the throttle and oil cables on the trike, too cold wet and sick to do much else. and this project is a shit idea.

nsr80 forks are about the right length, doubt i’ll install em.

Four stars new bikes. TGB’s taiwan golden bee’s. no really.

They needed new batterys after sitting in the warehouse for three months, had good GS batterys too.

Tuesday

well the trikes engine is in, took loads of photos, curseing bikepics.com lack of batch upload now.

started with nsr frame…

…and finished up with these

fiddled with engine placement all morning. hard to do with only one set of hands and a dark garage with a slopeing floor. one of the tires has no air so the trikes nowhere near level.

first a temporary adjustable front mount is tack welded in, it allow the engine to move back forth and sideways, but not twist.

i’ve used this piece of metal for years to align sprocket’s.

taken all these pics so I’m gonna use em!

spilt a lot of oil out of the gearbox when it was upside down, oil breather in built into the top rear engine mount.

first pic with body work on.

if you follow the links and zoom in you might find that the chain is out of alignment, i blame the poor light.

luckily i made some provisions to move the engine sideways with some spacers.

ugly bugger, ain’t it.

the tack welded temporay front mount.

both rear mounts there, top one will be finished next week, engine will have to come out again.

same deal this side, some strenghting may be added to bottom mounts.

can’t really see the chain aligment there. rear sprocket will be changed anyway and i doubt that the new one will be in exactly the same place.

totally wrecked after all that. most of the day was taken up makeing the first tempoary front bracket, plain sailing after that.

work, good bad and ugly

So now it seems im going to douglas now instead of wilton, sarge will be getting fatter and nad will just have to do without. Latest manger seems to be mad just like i was when i ran GNIC. Wonder what its like working for me?
