bajaj tuk tuk
First up i found an rxs engine stuffed into a ysr gag bike.
Guy who did the pocket rocket a while back, bought this a few years ago, there may be plans in the works…
like a proper expansion pipe at least.
Then i set about attacking the tuk tuk, gotta finish some of these projects!
immediately followed by a quick break to stare at the gxsf600, after decided against the rgf125 track bike (at least for mondello) and a quick look to confirm the cbr is missing way too many bits, the gsxf looks like its getting the chop, probably SRAD suspenders, pod filters, rs125/250 tail end maybe a wider cbr6 rear wheel, plenty of time for a decent rear tyre to turn up somewhere.
Back to work you! weld on the gear change pivot.
all done! gotta find a really coarse nut to fit on the bolt.
extra bits that needed chopping off.
Did it run? fuck yea! lined it up against the garage wall for safety, gingerly selected first, clutch works! bring up the rev and ease out the throttle… and away it goes in reverse AWAY from the safety wall! 😀
got a fair bit of poke, pull ted and myself up the hill no bothers, no body else around to take our pic tho 🙁
cables are terrible, so the gearchange is not the best, also the throw of the change is massive, bit of adjustment there needed, needs an airfilter it’s too lean to run with out a little choke, some brake hoses, a master cylinder(got a cbr one), window rubbers, Â another hoop for the roof, a roof(canvas), some where to put my feet, some where to put my arse, bucket of paint, set of tyres, tax and insure.
I think it needs a built in bbq in the back, sausages burgers and biking anyone?
will i ever finish a project?
Finally got around to balancing the cbr carbs, massive difference, much more bottom end pull and smoother then a cream covered 16 year old.
The last couple of days have been spent getting teds r1 up to speed for a trackday, don’t it look very professional? utter fluke that seans tyre warmer were blue.
All that trackday work, was fun, but it was giving ted ideas, he suggested getting seans (mums really)rs250 going and take that, don’t think i’d be happy trashing someone elses fragile two-stroke around, the tzr250 3ma? nope that’s leading a pampered life as an investment piece. the high mileage cbr6? missing all the engine spacers, a fork leg and some decent disc’s, plus i fear it would be expensive to fix after a proper blow up (inevitable really) and it needs a decent 160 rear tyre, which i’d just have to buy. the gsxf600 teapot? there’s more of it there but a lot of it is corroded, new forks, new shock odd size wheels.. What’s left the runner? rxs? four star moped? not quite fast enough. The rgv125? just need loads of welding, can chop off loads of road stuff, only expense is decent hh brake pad (only two not four like the others!) and some second hand 125 slicks. Least if i fall off that thing nobody’s gonna cry.
Now if i could just remember where i put it…
A lesson
So we went to the tall ships a while back..

I took a picture of this awesome crane.

Later on we tried to finally get niki’s gpz500 working again

Nice paint job!

Lesson one: make sure engine works well before any paint jobs

lesson two: buy a honda

what needs a piece of wood to fix it?

the centre stand, no idea how the PO could have stood the racket the stand made as it clattered and banged off the chain and the swingarm. Perhaps that was why is was so cheap?

Moto2 challenge
How in the hell did they make the image handling in wordpress worse? any way no moaning, back to work, looks like very little done today but in fact a ton of spacers and measuring was done, the wheels are now beige because inventor is rubbish at threading and can’t handle too many complex textures.

So if you look closer you’ll notice the brakes are carbon and we have some sexy disc carriers.

Whats with the oval tubes? decided on a hossack front end and after much research found out what’s the best travel path for the front axle, similar to the rear but mirrored, so that we can nail the front tyre to the ground with the transient load…. engineering terms are so sexy..
Moto2 challenge
For the sake of my portfolio, i’m gonna make a moto2 spec bike, only gonna spend the spare days at it.
Of course i couldn’t get my hands on the actual moto2 book with the very handy model of the cbr600rr engine, so i just made do with some internet research for the engine. sorted the wheelbase the seat height and the tyres today, the seat is the wonkiest but the wheels are very nice carbon fibre. the actual chassis (the fun part!) i haven’t made up my mind yet, a hossack front end would the best of the conventional design (it still needs a frame) but a tesi/veyron would lightest (sod all frame) however the veyron type need special wheels big bearing and would be a little difficult to squeeze the rad the exhaust and the shock in the same place.
also i think that 190/65 rear tyre might be a bit too tall, have to look into that, one site said it was 55, more research!
the runner the rxs and the tzr
Many updates today.
link pipe for the runner 180/kart airbox experiment has turned up, just have to dig the runner out now..
Got started on sorting the rxs fork. after some measureing i’l be taking 4cm off the length.
picture to remind me how to put them back together.
tzr gearchange lever needed lengthening to suit the aftermarket rearsets.
scrap paper calculations.
scrap metal for the chop
magnet holds it all together quite nicely while i weld.
20mm increase on the long part and 5mm on the short part, there should be no difference in lever throw and i can now change with my foot rather then my big toe nail.
then i sat around looking at this r6, i did not measure the front end to see if it would fit the cbr6….
New Computer time..
Big quad core processor, 4 GB of ram, big PSU and a shiny new motherboard to hold it all together, The nvidia 7300gt will have to hold on for now until some more money appears.
First i needed to pick the chassis with the least working bits in it, which is of course the one buried under the rest of the computers..
two DAYS later it all goes back in. Simply build a PC? i laugh at your naivety!
Architect of all this misery and pain? a duff PSU, it would power up fine but there would be no POST beeps and just a blank screen of nothing, right now i’m using an old 300w PSU, not much use if i want to overclock the old 7300gt.
Gotta get back to the fiddling with bikes soon.
TZR250 3ma
Well finally got to ride it, didn’t go over 4k, don’t have a number plate so don’t want any sort of attention, it was lovely and crisp gotta find that plate and taste the powerband!
list of thing that need fixing:
the gearchange lever, way too short
handle bar grips worn out
rear brake pads
coolant over flow bottle
set of plastics/paintjob and put some air in the tyres
thats not a bad list all in all..
also cleaned the cbr6 abit.
random coolant bottle which is not right for the tzr
RXS is out of the shed at my house and moved to the garage, ought to get started on that too.
Kart airbox, runner 180
well the airbox turned up, massive ain’t it?
got a free kart steering wheel cover as well, now if i just had a car to attach it to…
me thinks i have to attack the airbox with a heat gun to make it fit, and also probably get a filter with a straight neck.
there are so many thing i have that just need a little bit more work to finish off, i’ll never get anything finished in true timmy style..
