Better than new!

Well maybe not but the new seat is fantastic,

Straight legs but bent tee pieces.

In with the wheel, bash em straight against the wall, out with a block of wood and bend the discs back to shape
while we are at it.

F3 rad is fail, could have made a bracket to join up the top mount (bottom one were fine) but didn’t have time. F2 rad
got globs of chemical metal.

It Runs! (look hard and you can see the mist/smoke/condensation)

Future project? they fit quite nicely with the original fairing mounts too…

Back from the holiday, got a day and a half to fix up the Runner or right this damage to the cbr:

Looks like its gonna rain all day tomorrow aswell, probably do the Runner first but that will need running in so maybe just a quick job and slash the cbr together, was going to paint it white, seems Im outta time.

33!

Yep 33 crashes, a silver citreon xsara ran a red light at speed and nailed me. brusied me arse, aldi pants didn’t have padding right where i landed, motocross/stomping boots saved me leg (again!)
bruise developing on my elbow right now, and my right foot may not be as good as my first assessment.

front forks are not to bad, but the tee peices are shot, radiator holed, exhaust (allready crumbly) busted, rear subframe bent, and that makes the frame a write off.

To fix: hacksaw off the subframe and weld on a stubby rear end (and a rack for the pizza box) nother rad, bend front straight again, exhaust too rotten to fix so i might as well make a turbo maifold and boost it.
might get about 2500 from the MIBI, since it such a low milage example (28000 on the clock,

off another bike,)

Monday

Well finally have solid rear engine mount, rear brakes and I’ve even had time to make an exhaust!

badly made rear mount, it just hooks on the lip of the exhaust, passes on all the vibes to the handbrake where i bolted it to the car, will change it soon but…

I’m actually very unhappy about the sound, nice burble at tick over and great even on the over run, but floor it and it sound restricted. Will bust out the baffle next day but if that fails i will have a look around for a better flowin silencer, I don’t know what this pipe is off but internal diameter suggests a 400 possible. I do have a titanium zx10r one that might do..

I’ve actually ripped this stuff out and changed it again for better stuff, really have to do the other mount soon, just need a really long extension bar for the upper engine mount.

Took a while to get the brakes right, was missing a spring (who lost that? doh!) and in the struggle to get the offside hub off i loosed the bearing from the hub, didn’t catch that one straight away, also the auto handbrake adjusting mechanism need adjusting..

slipped the dash back in too, have dedided what I’m gonna do (will change my mind next week again lol) Since the starlet is too small for bike/car towing and too big for a bike engined/track racer/shopping getter, I’m gonna fit the 1.3 4ef and sell it on, so it’s gotta be a litte bit pretty, and pass an nct. Hope to get about €1700, for a big car killer/ track day hero that can be insured by a 17 with out a clue (and cheap tax!) he’ll wrap it around a poll ina week..

Once thats all done, gotta get me a 30 year old pickup (saw a 6300cc diesel amercian truck go for £1000 last night on ebay) cheap tax and good hauling power, and a gsxr1100. turbo the gsxr run the chassis into the ground, yoink the engine out and shove it in a tiny car (in the rear obv.) saw a matiz yesterday €500 nct till 09 tax with engine trouble.

A matiz will fit in the back of an American truck no sweat.

All it needs is a two door mod (streched front doors obv.) and i reackon those pop up headlights would be sweet too.

Monday, Fail day.

Monday

Didnt get up to much, late hangover intervention.

Did finish dimitri’s bike and sort out my camchain though.

Steampimpin. fo sure

need choons buoy?

Crapod?

steampimp?

Not shown is a tiny little creative zen, for the choons obviously.

Monday

Fix that sill!

Jack up the car to make it easier to weld. higher the better.

Note the whole rear suspension is an ARB, think i could make it stiffer. then i can shorten the springs even more with out the fear of springs unseating during hard cornering.

Rusty!

Hole-ly!

Too small to be a Dave Roberts ‘exploratory incision’ but then again i don’t have a shitacular ford.

Don’t have any krust or weld though primer so..

Out with the hammerite, which is buried in the back right by that bulmers bottle..

Better.

While waiting for that to dry abit i pulled out my front sill lip(?)

afterwards gave it a coat of hammerite too.

Then it rained.. again.. every time i weld……

Didn’t do a great job of the patch plate.

Welding wasn’t too hard (except for the upside down bit)

Stop to rescue some seca bits for my mom, all the back yard ‘spares pile’ is gone 🙁

Crap photo of some crap welding but it is solid, will make a better patch for the other side.

rear arch is a bit shit, but at least i have some options when it come to fixing that (offroad archs or widebody? hmmm)

RWD FTW!

SO i saw an ad for 3 triumph dolomites, €1800, in Dublin, called ted and let him know since i knew he might need some spares.

after a while i got to thinking that maybe getting myself some 70’s pile of BL crap might be a good idea, instead of converting

my fwd starlet to rwd it may be possible to insure a 30 year old car these days since insurance has gotten a bit better. 30 year

old cars are tax free so i could have a 2 liter, it would be no problem. Probably.

Teds dolomite sprint automatic 1 of 50 made (autos that is not dolomite sprints):

Shove out the shite engines they came with and stuff it with a more likely 1.8cvh from a sierra, i’d be happy enough with

that, if it can’t be saved from the rust bunnys i could use the running gear in another shell, like my starlet 🙂 again avoiding

the tax problems and keeping it rwd 😀

When i went to look em up in the buyandsell i saw cheap spirfires, heralds, and dolomites. they were cheap enough too

so the future may be BL and breakdowns for me…

Ted has also gone a litte further on with his rd/tz 375 project, footpegs are a problem, can’t put them high enough

because of his false leg. I offered to make a new leg but i was turned down. Probably would have turned out like the

titanic anchor anyway.

Got a good pic of Aines monster 900..

Monday

Makeing sure the seat is properly attached to your car is a good thing, even if it has never ever been.

First up, make patches out of a horrible British Leyland van.

Weld in patches, try not to weld rust and keep the torch straight.

Crap welding or what?

Rain stops play 🙁

While it rains chip away useless floor stuff. (you can just buy a hammer, you don’t have to make a special one

just to remove insulation). Sharp small chisel important.

Tired of waiting for the rain to stop, i moved the welder into the car and finished up the patching with hammerite

Hammerite, covering up bodges since time began.

Next week i might do the sills, then on to the electrics 🙁 then the NCT 🙁
