ep70 starlet, 4ef engine conversion. pt2.

Injector holes from the 4efe head need bunging up,hammered in some 1 cent coin’s and sealed them with arldite

up for a race?

4ef carb and manifold on the 4efe engine, if i had the time, i would deffinatly put on a set of bike carbs, the holes in the 4ef manifold are much smaller then the 4efe ones

Engine in!

Lots of stupid small things more to hook up and block off (don’t need a carb manifold heater) but im off on holiday for the week, so you’ll have to wait to see if it blows up.
ep70 starlet, 4ef engine conversion. pt1.
I may regret starting this. but hey, the rear disc’s are hanging on just fine so if that turned out all right …

only thing i forgot to disconnect was the choke cable, you can even see it being stretched in the previous picture

Plenty of space there for a fwd bike engine setup, much like this geo, pity i don’t have the inclination for a fwd sports hatch back. maybe if i chopped the roof off.

With a 1:1 rear diff this layout could work for rwd’ing stuff that has no proper gearbox.(like hondas)

Somebody asked for photo’s you can just tune out if you don’t like it.

right this 4efe will be converted to a 4ef (that mean a carb instead of injection)
Injector holes need blocking up(1 cent coins and some glue?)
bottom pully is to be changed for lighter 1e item.(done)
ep70 1e engine mount will be used and that means taking off the cambelt cover(done)

twin pully was used for aircon. will my car have aircon? do i have a pair of tits?

1e pully on the left way way lighter, must be worth about 2bhp i reckon.

belt was lose, why is it not an auto adjuster?

4efe mount on the right and 1e on the left, the aluminium one is a lot lighter but there is no way i can use it with out chopping about the car. which is pointless coss i have one that works allready.
rxs100 first drive.

It lives! went for a blast up the road, nothing fell off and it seemed to carburate fine on a 120 main jet with the pipe and airfilter. foot pegs seem good gear change is impossible no nasty vibes from the handle bars (heavy bar ends doing there job) will get a number plate soon and sort proper insurance.

Ted was fixing this thing up, bloody noisy clutch.

Engine is ready to come out, had to jack it up like this and remove the wheels and disconnect the hubs to pull the CV joints free of the gearbox. Now it’s back on it’s wheel, will get engine out on thursday or friday, then steve said he’d help with bangin in the new engine.

Saw this outside local shop v6 mk2 capri. starmags for wheels i think?
killarney biki fest 09, honda 50 step-tru rally.
Killarney bike fest, saturday
Both of them had there original airbox’s, drool!

Seening all these trike’s gave me idea’s, i think my spare cbr6 is going to get it, passanger and driver will be set way behind the rear axle to get the COG in the center, we will sit side by side like a car, but a little higher up so it will be styled a bit like and off roader, i have many idea’s must ask the insurance companys how far i can go before it needs an engineers report.

This thing would be quite excellent with a runner 180 engine. but i am confused i don’t see how that diff works (if it is a diff) and if it doesn’t then why the twin disc’s?

Nice mix of retro and tech, loving the plunger and rear disc brake.

The idea of putting the tank low and exposing the engine is great it would be perfect for engine’s that need to be longer to fill the rear frame, like some singles, but not like harley’s, there long enough.
Far too much work gone into this thing.

Ducati 350 condor, equiped with tail gater deterent!
The honda 50 challenge around the ring of kerry was a bit dull, nobody had an interesting bike!

im in this pic ๐

300 riders, police had to feckin escort it, really bad did not need them there at all,a highly tuned 140cc might break 100kmh (on THOSE roads(you know what i mean)) sun was spliting the stone’s and there we were bunched up behind some guards being told to stop and wait when we did not want to, melting alive while we waited, herded like sheep, who the hell asked them there anyway? going to find a 140cc engine and just pass them next time, we can bearly break the speed limit and are not breaking the law by haveing a ride. and it’s better to just string out rather then bunch up.
(Btw the honda pics are the girlfriends)
rxs100. Terminator style.

First up needed to fix the brake light switch, top one is a broken brembo switch bottom one is a working grimeca from the dead runner 125.

While paint and stuff was going on went for a long long spin, poor bike, going down to kerry again this weekend. done about 480 miles so far up and down to kerry.

At last started to paint feckin expensive at รขโยฌ28.

nearly last coat, lacquer is on last.

Not too bad eh? wiring loom is done now except to wire up a head light and maybe a kill switch. over the winter will do the rear wheel, or I will probably change my mind again about the paint/style. Went to see terminator salvation the other day, every time I see a post apoc film I get all sorts of evil ideas.
Paint and wiring

Priming all done, middle fairing is wet, will be dull for the paint when it’s dry.

Slaped on some triflow paint on the bare metal parts of the frame, then soldered on the tail light connections.
What’s left to do?
sort brake light switch
sort a rear brake (low priority)
fettle the front brake
get brother to paint fairings
find air filter oil
Headlight (want a smaller one)
When all thats done, a test drive will happen, then i shall discover the pegs rear to be more rearset and the forks need to be shorter and the bars are too high and when i kill or get sick of the engine (after the summer) i shall paint the rear wheel and do a better job of the front one and finally sort out a faster engine.
Malossi air filter, sava mc7 tyres, tank leak.

Malossi air filter pod, should do the business. Fix the tank leak again, did not use enough hardener. used araldite.

Fixed niki’s bike, if I find Paul’s brother(he did the wiring) I’ll strangle him.

Started with the gold paint on the wheels, below is a a piece of plastic with the fiat green I want to put on the body work. Can’t see it very well.

After i sprayed on the gold i read the can, 7 DAYS to dry? and it needs lacquer? fuck that. Never again am i painting any of my bike’s or car’s, way to much hassle not enough driving.
Rxs100 taillight sorted, more paint drama. tyres are here!

Nice aprillia rs125, needed little modification to fit.

Painted underside of tank and glued up the new holes i found.

To much rain all together.

Halfords filler primer.

Silver paint that was lying around reacted and a decided against painting it silver, it would only work if he frame was red and that i can’t be arsed doing for a while. so it’s going to be British Racing Green with gold wheels. definitely this time.

Yellow matches the shocks eh?

Tyres and air filter turned up! dopes from easyparts.nl sent me the wrong type of rear tire but at least they charged me for the correctly for the cheaper tubeless, instead of the more expensive tubed tyre. i can run it wit a tube it’s not really a problem
What is a problem right now is that i have loads of work to do niki’s vl125 isn’t charging again and loads of the fourstar TGB’s need bits sorted for em. And paperwork needs doing license is out of date soon gotta sort that!
EDIT: got a haircut so i can’t tie my hair up anymore, i forgot i had such 80’s hair!
Tail and headlights. Micra with blown distributor.

Got this off an early xt350, bout the right size and turned upside down matches the angle of the tail piece.

Headlight will be a shallow spot I again dug up in the garden.

will mount on a quick remove bracket to to the side like an endurance racer. will be stuck on high all the time but it allways was anyway, 6 volts not giving much light out anyway.

Bastard to get right. In the end to much on and offing and bending of brackets got it in nearly the right place. Ended up flush with the tail piece instead of sticking out 1cm like I planned.
That light is now scrapped, brother found me a aprillia rs125 tail light that is shallow enough to be mount directly to the tail piece and much neater.
Not been busy over the last week or so, got stuff disconnected from the engine bay of the starlet ready to take the engine out just as the really wet weather hits ๐
The Girlfriends micra broke down, no spark, only now I find out that these cars have a weak point in the ampilfier which is buried in the distributor. 300 fucking euro for a reconditioned one, it was damn lucky it started right up after i installed it, was tempted to rip it all out and install megasquirt to avoid future problems with the NATS as well.
