Choke cable

step 1: remove entire bike…

there it is just under the right hand coil, totally seized. when this new cable stops moving I’ll rig up a cable that is just pulled out the side.

didn’t have the tools to properly clean the carbs so i left that till some other time, still wondering what to do with the airbox, I have a spare lid so i can experiment with one and still be able to return to stock.

Perhaps if i remove the bell mouth of the snorkel, the sharp edge might add a bit of induction noise. Must have a look at some mid 90’s kawasaki airbox’s there known for a proper induction roar.

I need to change the choke cable on my ’88 Bros 400 in the very near future…the old one has stretched or something and turning the choke on barely does anything. I don’t quite understand what’s wrong with the cable-less ‘pull out the pin’ choke…so much simpler.

‘pull the pin’ type chokes are easy where the carb is out in the open and you can get to it, once the carbs are buried behind frame rails and under fuel tanks, there has to be a cable any way and once you have a cable might as well put the lever on the bar. Even when you know why, it’s still a pain in the arse!

had a bros 400 for a while, solid bike, get the later three spoke gold wheels on it! drooool

I’ve got the Mk1 so silver wheels for me. Got it for £330 and then another £164 for a desperately needed new set of tyres. Other than that all it needed was a front calliper rebuild and a carb clean, so not a bad deal as it turns out. As soon as I get my test passed I’ll get it MOTed on on the road. I’m far too cheap to be buying new wheels, especially as I have a set with new BT45s.

Upgrading from my RXS100, which was how I found the blog as it happens.

Criminal to waste new tyres just for a new set of wheels. Excellent choice of bikes you have, I can tell 🙂 My bros was black too. Join up with us on retro-riders (link above on the blogroll) we are the bikie equivalent of the awesome retro-rides.
