Ring of kerry challenge

First some non bike stuff

Been pushing my computer abit hard lately playing LOTRO, crap buildup on the cpu heat sink didn’t help stability. bought new quad core components anyway, as this one is quite old now .
Windy weather the week or two ago blew over the poor suffering cbr6, no damage thankfully.

busa and sarah looking well, sarah just finished her first mini marathon. 1h40mins

To the bikes! made it to killarney on sunday and off loaded the honda 50.

the cbr6 tucked up for the day after quite a cold 50 mile spin down.

tried to get a pic of last years team cider bike (on the right here) both bikes are quite sticked up.

Yep somebody really did ride this thing the whole way..

This look like massive fun, suzuki rear end yamaha dt front?

loving the unintentional red white and blue paint job.

O’carrols cove, stopped here for an ice-cream, passing everything out on a honda 50 is so much fun when we got to the head of the convey we’d stop, wait and then pass them all again 🙂

the race bike went great 55mph down hill out of a draft, spent the whole day hunched over the bars ekking out a few mph over everyone else,. the pirelli tyres were great for going around the outside of anything and the ebay shocks meant for a honda dax transformed the handling, it would have been quite boring without other people on similar bikes to play with. Next year i might go on the tuk tuk, or build my own honda fifty on the cheap .

Rs125 topend

I’ll be working for the next two weeks, 12 hours days 🙁 many many monies 🙂 the heat pump i’m helping with got turned into metal while i was away, awesome to see it IRL

had to strip the topend of this rs125

just helping out around the house

122 bottem end, but not sure what top end?

For a race bike it was in pretty shit condition, i could field a better bike no problems..

Inventor

Moved on from autocad to Inventor, I quite like what you can do with it, can’t wait until we are actually taught something instead of blindly clicking buttons whilst bored.

A friend i met in class is going to make this gear lever up for me, A friend with CNC is a friend indeed.

Also built a vane supercharger in Inventor, works fantastically but i haven’t sorted animations yet.

Guess what time it is?

Yup upgrade time, decide to go sideways from ubuntu to debian. took almost a week and many reinstalls to get it where i wanted it, happy now, debian seems easyier to understand whats going on under the hood, Installed Shiki-Brave theme which slicked up the whole desktop and unfortunately compiz needed a line or two of text editing to work and thats really the only downer when compared to ubuntu, oh and the wireless is a bit different.

Three Wheeled Shenanigans

Cad course is working out great for me, found a guy their who own his own engineering shop, i’m designing a supercharger for the runner and the tuk tuk 🙂

In the last month or two i have actually done something, niki’s intruder chain for one was quite a bit worn out.

Head is off the gpz500, gasket looked okay, hmm

Found this in the garage, nice pipe eh?

Manly carbs stick out sideways. folding pegs for heroic corner action.

Oil cooler for the massive engine, not sure what size but it has to be at least 125 hope fully 150cc

And a top box, it has to have a top box lol

Sarge spent 3500 euro and this pile of shite.

neither of em can actually fit in the sidecar..

i nicked the seat 🙂

5 wheeler?

5 seater!

I’d like to meet the man who design this steering damper, then do something horrible to his right arm.

Wherer to start with the slagging? the front.

front brakes siezed. (sarge didn’t notice)

steering damper only works going right. (design fault)

steering damper limits lock. (design fault)

no reverse.

engine puking rusty coolant all over it’s self. (sarge didn’t notice)

rear air shocks have been replaced with hagons from a kiddies tricyle (not a millimetre of suspension travel, sarge didn’t notice)

the chair suspension is off a trailer, indespension, no damping at all.(design laziness)

rear brake (the only brake) requires you to lift your entire leg up to reach it and then stand on it and hope you don’t lock up. (pain in right leg, sarge thinks he’s having a heart attack)

over sized rear tyre rubs drive shaft.

gearchange design is so cave man, harley would be proud.

engine shake’s like a bastard under 2000 when you open up the throttle.

engine barely pull’s first gear, new clutch soon.

can’t see out the windscreen.

the wiring.

neither of them can properly fit on the bike, the drivers back rest actually squashes sharon right into her own back rest, and the back of sarges back rest is just a rusty pointy bolt.

I’m sure i could extend this list by alot, but the vitriol is running out.

Whats it like to drive? painful, the steering is direct like a go kart, but is stiffer to correct it to the right thanks to that fucking steering damper, so one arm hurts more then the other, neck hurts from craning it to look over the screen. your whole body is knocked left to right by the chair, can you imagine trying desperately to hold the bars straight, while the their swaying (not turning) violently? it’s like a permanent tank slapper. I’d love to see what a properly done sidecar might handle like, if my tuk tuk manage’s to out handle this thing i may revise my statement about all sidecars designers mothers.

So sarge again has blown a chunk of some one elses money on a pile of shite, what the hell could i have done with €3500? in six months i could have turned it into 10,000 easily provided i didn’t get distracted by building a twin engined hayabusa unicycle. topped with an inflatable duck.

Sad News :(

Starting a full time CAD course next monday, 32 weeks of study means no work done. all projects moth balled. Might do something interesting in CAD and post that, clean finger nails for the next 8 months or as long as i can stay away from the shed.

Another surprise in the garage, streetfightered gsxr1100

Too cheap for proper bars? can’t imagine the brake/clutch reservoirs work very well either.

I’d have a standard one please, where the hell is he going with that rear brake pedal?.

I leave my bike at teds place for one night.

Roberts Cove Vintage Festival

cb1100r nekid

Found it in the shed today, one owner from new, hand made alloy tank, carbon imprenated fairings, magnesium engine covers, i offered him my busa.

still has the running in sticker on the clock. missing it’s idiot lights because of a crash years ago, I remember it back in garage way back then too.

The reason I went to the shed, put some shiny bits on my new rear brakes.

also I have a new haircut I now look like a cross between guile jedward and vanilla ice.

stupid place to put the starter solenoid.

ran it with out oil, silly buggers, it blew it’s plug thankfully before it seized, more work 🙂

I wanna quad!

This quad is belong to the guy who own the xt350 frame which i want to put the ypvs 350 engine into, so to get the xtdr project going i must fix this quad as payment for the xt frame!

2.5psi in the tyres and 38kg max load, tiny thing.

had to clean out the carb, bit of compressed air bish bash bosh.

Electrical troubles, turned out it was a another switch at the back for the adult to pull on in case the kid gets away on the bike. And some fool had wired the killswitch on permanent.

Rubber hose thing blocking up the main jet as well and old fuel.

Fun!

Sean’s get the exhaust sorted, subframe may have to go up a bit to clear it all.
