Course over, new bits arrived.

By my reckoning I came second in class at tig welding, only discovered that I was using 10amps more then everyone else 10mins before the exam started..

New bits, rear leaves, front springs, rear bush’s, u bolts and a pair of grp4 top spring seats, which look like they don’t fit my springs. Anyway rally design only charged 30 for the delivery quite happy with that, not a light or small package. threw a bit of black paint on the leaves but I ran out of paint (though I had more) and this monday I will be sorting sarges vulcan 1500 (more blasted welding) but straight after that the jago chassis will be going back onto it’s wheels.

blasted TIG flipping cold

Argh, im sick just when I don’t wanna be, course is so short I can’t really skip bits.

I had one of these when I was a kid. The kid that so expertly shortened this one, could barely talk, but he could handle a throttle all right ๐Ÿ™‚

1019Image000

Dammit, I got a job.

๐Ÿ™ well not really a job, two weeks at fas learning to tig weld, crap timing, right where the jago project is at it’s lowest I have to stop working on it. Well just have to sort that shoping list.

Also saw a mythbusters special the other night they made a boat out of duck tape, so I though why not make a car body? it would be a similar design (but not shape) to bmw gina, and I could change it quite easyly. Just have to make the cage a bolt in affair so I can change the roof line.

English axle strip

Result of some one driving around with out a pingfukit, might get away with reusing it, plenty of meat left on the shoe.

1008Image001

Looks like I have a 4.441 diff! don’t think anyone would be cruel enough to put a 4.4 tag on a 3.9 diff do ya? Anyway will probably have to rebuild it with new wheel bearings and a nose seal.

Also got the gearbox off the pinto.

The amazing disappearing belt!

1007Image000

1007Image000

1007Image000

I can’t find any belt at all, none nadda ziltch. and the one i bought on ebay is second hand and only 20.6mm wide when it should be 22mm

1007Image000

Painted bottom of chassis, next stage is to put springs back onto it and do a dry build of the major parts (body engine) so I can see what bits need chopping and welding for example the engine will need different mounts and i need to mark out the bottom of the A post for the full cage.

Loads of work done,

But not many pics to show for it, first up got Niki’s bike out the way, sorted the chain, rear brake, idle, bent handlebars and wonky head lamp.

Then moved onto the jago.

1005Image000

Font end finally off, had to angle grind off all the bolts, crossmember is in a poor state, got an oval hole TCA hole on one side and the other seized.

1005Image001

Rear axle out and filipped the frame, probably gonna rain all day tomorrow so probably no painting.

Then had to answer a call to help from frosty, blasted French car had eaten it’s own gearbox (it would be awesome if it had eaten some other cars box, but i digress) so with a diagnosis of either a wrecked clutch or cwp, we got that box out in about an hour and a half and it looks like the teeth that held onto the cv had disappeared, new gearbox time!

speaking of eating gearbox’s, dinner time!

Jago’s front end off(ish)

1002Image000

Bit wrecked last two days tried to get something done today, but didn’t get far, some bit’s are quite stuck on.

1600 pinto and type 3 gearbox out!

0930Image000

1600 pinto and type 3 gearbox from a capri, heavy tank of a thing.

0930Image000

got 13″ of ground clearance there.

0930Image000

needs a little tidying up not too bad

0930Image000

little more oil on the mounts here so it lasted a bit better.

0930Image000

The leg is bent, think I’ll bend the other one in closer too, that’ll fix the camber.

More work done, jago cleared up.

0929Image000

Niki’s intruder, not a marauder, so it came as no surprise that none of the bits I ordered fitted.

0929Image001

Little sprocket refused to come off, so I angle grinded that biatch to hell.

0929Image002

830317, the guys at the joc might be of some help deciphering that.

0929Image003

Bull bars off, staying off too, gonna use what’s left of the bars to make the rest of the floor, gotta clear the work schedule before I can get back to work on it.

Looks like now it is all mk2, it has a mk2 handbrake setup, it obvious now that some ejit just put a 50mm leaf spring in there for kicks

stuff done today.

0928Image000

0928Image000

Got that bultaco that was in the garage for a while started, do these people not know that is there is too much oil in the premix the fuel leans out and that’s nearly as bad as not have enough oil? he only wants รขโ€šยฌ600 for it, was tempted till I realised it’s righthand gearchange.

0928Image000

New pads for the runnner 180, gotta sell it off now.

0928Image000

New oil and filter for the poor suffering cbr6, really needs a rear tyre now.39500miles on the clock now, which makes its about 75000miles?

0928Image000

50mm spring on the left and a 60mm spring on the right. whew that’s cleared up a lot of my worries about this back end being a mk1,I now know for certain its a mk2, sweet.

0928Image000

turned it around by lifted it up with one hand and spinning it around like a top. over my head. whilst keeping the crocodiles back with a whip and a chair. with my third arm.

0928Image000

you can see it clearer now that the shite on the floor is gone.

0928Image000

Another new bit needed, think this was part of the reason why the spring broke.
