Series two and a half-ish
I think this qualifies as a hybrid, series IIa with a bunch of series III parts and the discovery 200 tdi engine and gearbox, got parabolic’s too. and defender doors…
Only a bit of rust, but it’s all pretty solid
Carbon fibre on a land rover?
Brakes are improved with a servo, pity they really need a bleed.
Yeah em where’s me floor? long gone replaced with alloy plate and the foot wells have galvanised plate riveted in.
That knob is gone, it gets in the way when your using both arms to turn the wheel. and you NEED both arms. it’s a little better now with 40psi in the front tyres.
Not a bad idea.
Door tops are from a lightweight, and need replacing. the door are early defender i’m told.
With the other toys
This had to go, to quote OLLR, it’s gay.
Big improvement, not sure if i want the spots, will have to see during the dark.
Disco box puts the gear lever a bit further back but not impossibly far
No roof lining.
What are these for?
yzf750r
Hols started on saturday. now that i’ve gotten over the christmas party hangover i spent two hours today on the YZF, first the fuel tap. Opened it up, had a look, diaphragm seemed fine, hmm, ah no spring? should be fine now. Didn’t bother replacing some of the other seals, don’t leak so no worries! actually some of them i have no idea where they go.
looks like the seals for the electric reserve tap, hope the reserve tap is ok.
Took off the top yoke to repair the holes drilled into it. probably fill it with epoxy and use a very thick primer/filler before painting it standard silver.
Also i soldered all the dodgy wireing, no pics of that it’s very boring.
cbr6 gets some love
Yep really leaky now.
Single Sided Funny Front End?
Arty shot win, camera fail. ought to do a photo shoot with a real camera soon, before it get mangulated again.
Next week should be YZF love time.
Getting ready for winter.
Honda 50cc trails bike, so tinchy. only let down on this jewel is the steel rims.
TDR pipes have arrived! got em for €112, bargain!
Dug out the xtdr.
They miss the tank and the petrol tap, the hardest to mod, the frame how ever is getting the chop, no biggie, it’s all ready mauled.
New tyres all round again for me, pirelli dragon evo 150/60, whipped off a sumo bike that seemed never to have been leant over? lots of chewing up in the centre section from engine braking.€60 bargain.
I though i had a dragon evo front to match, but no it’s actually a dragon supercorsa, yay more track tyres in winter.
Also fitted the black exhaust pipe, quite on idle, raspy on accel and the fueling is right again. Gotta fit a new fork seal next week no excuses!
shocking!
well today i was gonna take off the rear end of the yzf and give a right good cleaning.
but instead i got up on the roof and took down a shed.
cat wants to know what happened to the roof?
inside the new shed, it’s clean for now..
really bad shot of all the shiny bikes lined up. will try to get a proper one soon.
after all that, i got around to the yzf’s rear shock, swingarm stayed in place and i measured the exhaust height at 61cm, after fitting the new shock and having a bit of a struggle with the massive spacer installed (chuck it), the rear went up by 8cm!
not surprising when you see the old shock length
lastly free forks!
yzf750r, stripdown
whipped the fairings off, few broken tabs, some melty bits. nothing totally beyond me and my anathema to fixing plastics and paint.
with em off it was best to get bike power washed, so before:
and after: Â blinging eh?
Before:
After: K&N filter too.
Airbox lid screws, yeah after 18 years you could expect one or two going missing. Must have been an obsessive K&N oil or something.
shock from the american lexus breaker got here, it’s sweet.
steering damper time! choices choices choices..
what else? about 7-8 points in the wireing loom need to be fixed properly, electrical tape does not count. the weird plate on the rear of the subframe have been removed, the tank has rusted through at some point and been repaired with chemical metal, not so bad, the tap however will need a rebuild as the petrol just flows out and lastly the headlight subframe is snapped.
all in all not a lot done today. pray for days off soon.
stencils
went a bit mad in work, stencilled up a 22″ harry, karols shirt and my bike, had to draw the line at the work van and juniors car..
yzf750r
got one!, bike of my childhood! all those formative years reading Performance Bikes, having my mind subtlety warped by garishly coloured 90’s bike doing massive wheelies. I have to itch that itch .
€750 got an orignal not really messed about with hound, it’s 18 years old, all it’s chome is gone from the fork legs, the rear shock is off something shorter and stiffer and it’s blown, brake pads are really oil sponges and everything is grotty, badly needs a clean a front tyre and a steering damper.
Not changing the colour style, it’s awesome you know it 🙂
10 hour day? pfft!
Got my spare rear fitted after work hours today, it’s weird seeing a clean wheel. Nice that this dunlop 160 fits the rim unlike the michelin 160, massive difference in width.
yuckie effluent.
mods to come
Winter at a lawnmower shop means fuck all work, which is perfect for crazy projects. f2 sumo sumo is go! (translation: cbr gets turned into a fat bastard supermotard)
right now it needs tyres, bald front and a nail in the rear means i need something to get me to the winter in one piece, since i need the cbr to commute!
a bridgstone road race slick front and a dunlop comuta special rear. which one will spit me off first?
