Tuesday

Yep changeing my work day to tuesday. dont get too excited. Can get a bit more work done now that the girlfriend is going to college, not that i did a lot today..

My cbr’s chain was a little worn, brand new chain and oil change at 33000miles on this set of clocks.

This is the best way of get the new rivet link on to the chain. much better then bashing head against it like i did last time just before the Scotland trip.

Not much done to the atc, the big hole is all patched up and i put on the wheels, as i pushed it around (i was not makeing engine noises!) i noticed just how bad the understeer is. not gonna need that front brake for sure. better rear brake couldn’t hurt tho.

Next week will see me dicking around trying to get the new engine in, unless some thing else breaks.

Decided to get a cbr1000f, got three reasons,

1. good enough for two up sunday rideing.

2. when i kill it, the brake/front end can live on with the cbr6(plus some other bits).

3. the engine (provided i get a 89 onwards) will be bullet proof and under 1000cc perfect for a cheaply taxed lotus sevensque kit car. just add a turbo!

Sarge made my car really stinky. you think metal can’t retain a smell? you ain’t seen whats in sarges bin bags…..

How many is that now?

Claire got fired tonight, that makes 6 managers in 4 years now. can’t count how many assistant mangers and staff iv’e worn out. New manger will be an ass, sodding tired of these jokers fucking up my job, shops too quite for me anyway going go to another shop and flex my pizza delivery power (yeah i just said that). wilton has lots of roundabouts and curves for the laying of rubber and i can throw free pizza at nab.

Scotland: 1590miles

Well, got back from Scotland, enjoyed the driving, didn’t like the drinking. Don’t really know what else to say i mean like i really really liked the driving, I got from sterling to ballymun(Dublin) to limerick (got lost) and finally to cork in one day and enjoyed it! it was something like 450miles. Didn’t think I would with all the driveing I do during the week. When I got home and could stand again I looked up nick sanders, 19 days to circumnavigate the world? hot shit I could do that! okay maybe not but then I’d be doing it on a 80,000mile old cbr. Sarge didn’t have any nick sanders dvd’s but I got long way around and long way down. Those ejits should have spent there own money and got the KTM’s, personally I’d like a Russian 6×6 or a the tiny two-stroke the camera man was using :D.

Speaking of serious off road machine, looks like the recession is make 4×4’s cheap now, seen a nice nissan pickup for 1700 and a 3ltr daihatsu for 1000. The economy will have picked up again by the time I have my starlet re-engined and NCT’d leaving me with nothing again.

Other news:

Project hardpoints will be moving along soon ,watch this space as they say.

Got a laptop! will be taking the dremel to it 2morrow.

New wheels again for the starlet, nice set of 13″, cars look much lower now and will be cooler then a very cool thing when I finish the suspension.

HOLIDAY PICS HERE

This is a nicer sign then the actual john o groats sign. Did a 250mile round trip on my own to see this while the other two were hung over 😀

Did you think i didn’t have any problems with my bike? HA!

That rads been dead and holed 4 time’s, last time the neck got a little outta shape so it wasn’t really sealing properly, this mod allowed me to see what the water was doing and fill up sooner.

Bashed on that f3 rad i got from JT, fan didn’t fit, bottom pipe needed extending and upper slip on joint was miles out. f3 fan might fit i’ll never know.

Little bracket i made up. Also squeezed in a temp gauge from an nsr80, it lights up red and the speedo light up green. Mismatched monster eyes lookin at ya!

More work!

It has been decided, we are going to scotland. gotta clean and sort out the cbr.

First up, a pic of the old cracked air filter.

Temporarily fixed. new filter allready in as we type.

All back together, along with the other cb650 (nighthawk) throttle cable. removed the old return cable while i was in there too. seems to have really improved the mpg, can get 155miles out of tank now, where it used to be 140(130 when i first got it)

Shiny new stainless steel pipes! cost me e320, so now i have to keep the cbr for the pizza job, gotta get me a spare engine.

The old ones weren’t too bad….

A rare pic of my bike in one piece!

Need a bit of a fairing to blow the wind off me, i like suzuki katanas, i have this spare dr750 nose lying around the place, need to cut off the elephant ears and find the cbr’s old headlight bracket to weld it up it’s just hanging here in this pic, probably will move it back and up a bit, then i’l paint it general lee orange! might skip the confederate flag tho.

big gap sucks, we shall see if it closes up when i get near to the finally position.

Looks just like the katana, got some smaller clocks to go in there too, 180kmh one instead of 85mph.

Practice packing for the trip, got a massive water proof bag to hold the sleeping bag and mat, both ex army worn and used but really comfortable and warm (bullets holes have been patched too!). Have the tassles cut off now i just need to get rid of the ‘timeless cruisers’ crap on the side.

Monday

Got runner going, just needed battery, starter motor wireing up,petrol and the alternator nut tightened.
Sounds lovely, would be straight out on it but insurance hassles with the guard right now are killing my
enthusiasm. Why the hell does she want my policy number so bad? did the guards in any of my other
accidents want to see my policy? can’t remember.

Anyway, it was all easy except the wire for the starter motor, odd spot and why the hell did i take it off in
the first place?

a very bad quick chop, extend the motor back till the rear mud guard, take out the boot box thing and
lower the seat onto the frame rails, lower everything else too.
A decent engine mount that didn’t twist and some frame slimming (it’s very wide not fat) could make this
bike very nice… or maybe i should just ride it.

Stripped the cbr right down. why? to change the throttle cable…..

the length is not a problem, how ever the cable slack is (cb650 cable) old cable is way fucked not a
chance in hell of me putting it back on. will search about the house for one soon, but i may just get
a new one. also the air filter is cracked!! don’t know weather it was because i was hit so hard or because
it is a cheap copy.

Better than new!

Well maybe not but the new seat is fantastic,

Straight legs but bent tee pieces.

In with the wheel, bash em straight against the wall, out with a block of wood and bend the discs back to shape
while we are at it.

F3 rad is fail, could have made a bracket to join up the top mount (bottom one were fine) but didn’t have time. F2 rad
got globs of chemical metal.

It Runs! (look hard and you can see the mist/smoke/condensation)

Future project? they fit quite nicely with the original fairing mounts too…

Back from the holiday, got a day and a half to fix up the Runner or right this damage to the cbr:

Looks like its gonna rain all day tomorrow aswell, probably do the Runner first but that will need running in so maybe just a quick job and slash the cbr together, was going to paint it white, seems Im outta time.

33!

Yep 33 crashes, a silver citreon xsara ran a red light at speed and nailed me. brusied me arse, aldi pants didn’t have padding right where i landed, motocross/stomping boots saved me leg (again!)
bruise developing on my elbow right now, and my right foot may not be as good as my first assessment.

front forks are not to bad, but the tee peices are shot, radiator holed, exhaust (allready crumbly) busted, rear subframe bent, and that makes the frame a write off.

To fix: hacksaw off the subframe and weld on a stubby rear end (and a rack for the pizza box) nother rad, bend front straight again, exhaust too rotten to fix so i might as well make a turbo maifold and boost it.
might get about 2500 from the MIBI, since it such a low milage example (28000 on the clock,

off another bike,)

Monday

Didnt get up to much, late hangover intervention.

Did finish dimitri’s bike and sort out my camchain though.

Monday

Got a little done today (more then i have in last couple of weeks….) nuf with the excuses

Fixed the sticky brake caliper, actually ted fixed it, i watched and learned, and i would have brakes again

but i didn’t really bleed them very well (a common fault of mine) so i have em tied up out side now allowing

gravity to do it’s ‘tang. Also a picture of a set of brakes would be boring. So while i waited (procrastinated)

I fitted new pegs!

Heavy duty motorcrosser pegs dang bike will be pile of smoldering rubble in a small hole before these baby’s wear out.

Should have got a before pic. Dur. Mucho extra ground clearance now (way shorter pegs).

Choco did some research on E85 conversions, looks like there is no natural rubber anywhere on my bike, (E85 eats that

stuff) so all i gotta do is up the ignition advance and drill out the jets, upping the compression would be nice but probably

more hassle then i need what with it only being a pizza delivery bike and all, plus is gonna eat it the cam chain and burn valves

out soon any way, don’t got the time for that kinda service since it’s an engine out job then and only then can you order the

shims, could be a long wait, soding easyer to get a new engine.

Im gonna look up some more info on E85 myself now.

Over kill with the angle grinder there ted!
