Monday

Went on a bike run sunday at least 480 bikers were there, damn rolling road block runined the experience, not doing it again. fuck the little dying kiddies.

little bit cluttered but very nice, ted did the engine in this.

Color blind bike, who forgot to do up his helmet one day had a little crash, afterwards he decided to paint build this.

Monday was a long day, got a my rod ends in the post, they look great but wont fit, coarse thread. my fault for not asking about it from the ebay seller. but then again it should have been specified. no matter there were cheap and next time i’ll get the right thread.

Slapped in the washers on my rear dampers, which helps to keep em in one piece, used a thiner washer rather than the std very thick washer cum bump stop thing.

Did a little work on the atc, my shoulder and broken thumb stopped me from doing alot.

It looks bent, but i will have to measure it.

going for yellow and black, completely didn’t think that out really. yellow hammerite is about 3 time more expensive then black, if im not careful i will end up with one of those horrible flip paint jobs.

After dinner went out to mallow to fix up the guy who fixed my laptops bike, just a bit of welding and lots oh wd40.

didn’t go with Gentoo in the end, trying ubuntu with a faster desktop.

Tuesday went to dublin zoo, quite nice up there now, not as many animals walking about the place as fota, but it did have a citifarm, which brought back memories. i want straw as a floor!

Monday win day, Tuesday fail day.

Rake!. Just finished lowering the front it’s about 1.5 coils off now, did this with the strut in situ.

๐Ÿ™ Found this in my rear upper mount.

If it was just a hole i could have fixed it another week, but nnooo, it’s gotta be completely fuXored

Tear ass down to the scrap yard on a spare honda 50(dressed in WWII gear) nearly fall off in front of the place while trying to indicate and brake. sarge laughed so hard he nearly fell off two. Relieved of 60 euro i bring back two complete ep80 rear shocks which are about 2cm shorter and have harder springs. Bonus!

looks like 2cm to me but was in too much of a rush to bother checking.

Back together again and i have some spare time to put the atc110 wheels on, 8inchs? the future man.

Enjoyed driveing it all of about 40miles, very taunt, car is a joy to drive again and i begin thinking of finallly getting the nct sorted and slaping in the bigger engine.

Mind you maybe i should have not have rushed the job so much….. on the plus side it did give me a really good idea on how to shorten the stroke lots, just need to find a set of sperhical bearing that should be lying around the place somewhere. Massive things but there probably well lost by now

Just this morning.

Pity i didn’t take any pics of the crap 14 alloys that were on it, embarrassing they were, just put the 13’s on here so needs to be driven for the suspension to settle.

Now all i need is some one who is very very good at soldering. did i just put my credit card details in a pic?

Monday

Well finally have solid rear engine mount, rear brakes and I’ve even had time to make an exhaust!

badly made rear mount, it just hooks on the lip of the exhaust, passes on all the vibes to the handbrake where i bolted it to the car, will change it soon but…

I’m actually very unhappy about the sound, nice burble at tick over and great even on the over run, but floor it and it sound restricted. Will bust out the baffle next day but if that fails i will have a look around for a better flowin silencer, I don’t know what this pipe is off but internal diameter suggests a 400 possible. I do have a titanium zx10r one that might do..

I’ve actually ripped this stuff out and changed it again for better stuff, really have to do the other mount soon, just need a really long extension bar for the upper engine mount.

Took a while to get the brakes right, was missing a spring (who lost that? doh!) and in the struggle to get the offside hub off i loosed the bearing from the hub, didn’t catch that one straight away, also the auto handbrake adjusting mechanism need adjusting..

slipped the dash back in too, have dedided what I’m gonna do (will change my mind next week again lol) Since the starlet is too small for bike/car towing and too big for a bike engined/track racer/shopping getter, I’m gonna fit the 1.3 4ef and sell it on, so it’s gotta be a litte bit pretty, and pass an nct. Hope to get about รขโ€šยฌ1700, for a big car killer/ track day hero that can be insured by a 17 with out a clue (and cheap tax!) he’ll wrap it around a poll ina week..

Once thats all done, gotta get me a 30 year old pickup (saw a 6300cc diesel amercian truck go for ร‚ยฃ1000 last night on ebay) cheap tax and good hauling power, and a gsxr1100. turbo the gsxr run the chassis into the ground, yoink the engine out and shove it in a tiny car (in the rear obv.) saw a matiz yesterday รขโ€šยฌ500 nct till 09 tax with engine trouble.

A matiz will fit in the back of an American truck no sweat.

All it needs is a two door mod (streched front doors obv.) and i reackon those pop up headlights would be sweet too.

oh Attempt at humour, FAIL.

Monday

Fix that sill!

Jack up the car to make it easier to weld. higher the better.

Note the whole rear suspension is an ARB, think i could make it stiffer. then i can shorten the springs even more with out the fear of springs unseating during hard cornering.

Rusty!

Hole-ly!

Too small to be a Dave Roberts ‘exploratory incision’ but then again i don’t have a shitacular ford.

Don’t have any krust or weld though primer so..

Out with the hammerite, which is buried in the back right by that bulmers bottle..

Better.

While waiting for that to dry abit i pulled out my front sill lip(?)

afterwards gave it a coat of hammerite too.

Then it rained.. again.. every time i weld……

Didn’t do a great job of the patch plate.

Welding wasn’t too hard (except for the upside down bit)

Stop to rescue some seca bits for my mom, all the back yard ‘spares pile’ is gone ๐Ÿ™

Crap photo of some crap welding but it is solid, will make a better patch for the other side.

rear arch is a bit shit, but at least i have some options when it come to fixing that (offroad archs or widebody? hmmm)

Monday

Makeing sure the seat is properly attached to your car is a good thing, even if it has never ever been.

First up, make patches out of a horrible British Leyland van.

Weld in patches, try not to weld rust and keep the torch straight.

Crap welding or what?

Rain stops play ๐Ÿ™

While it rains chip away useless floor stuff. (you can just buy a hammer, you don’t have to make a special one

just to remove insulation). Sharp small chisel important.

Tired of waiting for the rain to stop, i moved the welder into the car and finished up the patching with hammerite

Hammerite, covering up bodges since time began.

Next week i might do the sills, then on to the electrics ๐Ÿ™ then the NCT ๐Ÿ™

Went to crookhead today, turquoise sea’s and white sand. bloody far though.

pity my camera isn’t up to much ๐Ÿ™

Bonus shot of gearchange thingi

much rain today, so after i collected dimitri’s new varadero (next week i do the chain on that) i went to work on the

inside of my car, removed the dreaded sound proofing on the passenger side, much easier then i though it was gonna

be, and uncovered another rust hole ๐Ÿ™

I like the primer colour.

Really sick of waiting for a mig welder, think i may just attack the car with 1.6mm arc rods.

Othernews: i have found the runner keys!

(DOH! forgot to take a pic of the painted floor, will get one in the morning)
