10 hour day? pfft!

Got my spare rear fitted after work hours today, it’s weird seeing a clean wheel. Nice that this dunlop 160 fits the rim unlike the michelin 160, massive difference in width.

yuckie effluent.

mods to come

Winter at a lawnmower shop means fuck all work, which is perfect for crazy projects. f2 sumo sumo is go! (translation: cbr gets turned into a fat bastard supermotard)

right now it needs tyres, bald front and a nail in the rear means i need something to get me to the winter in one piece, since i need the cbr to commute!

a bridgstone road race slick front and a dunlop comuta special rear. which one will spit me off first?

runner airbox mods

The mount i made up for the kart airbox on the runner, i knew wasn’t a perfect engineering solution, it was only secured by two points, and both those points were aligned in the wrong plane (up and down). So, i welded up the cracks again and added a strap.

Worked well, very stiff, can put alot more weight on it

The extra bracing on the upper part is a bit redundant now.

Did i mention i brought it to a dyno, and it made 2bhp more over stock? doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s a round 8% moar power!

Just needs new tyres and to solid mount the engine, think i should get a 28mm carb and chuck the 24mm on the tuk tuk. Shopping!

cbr 600 r/r

well first i sold my busa, lumps of lovely cash

but i still hadn’t actually convinced any of my bikes to actually run. So i had to borrow teds 50 to goto work, that got lots of attention.

So i needed an R/R to get the cbr running again, the gsxf had one built into the alternator and the DR was a bit stuck there…

can’t see it here but the wires were toast.

in the end we found an R/R which we believe came off an rs125, it was also a 6 wire so i had to solder in the sixth wire to a switched 12v line and voila!

gave the very old battery a top up charge as well so finger crossed it’ll start in the morning

new second spare bike needs to be bought, since the runner is totally unreliable and i have spare cash…

cbr6, R1, and scorpion can.

So i was at work the other day an some chickens invaded and shat all over the floor.

the trained ninja death gerbils didn’t do squat. something about pay, and food. kubota mechanics are such bitches.

This got the the chicken to retreat. you’d run too if you ever heard a 120cc chainsaw starting up..

What the Fuck has all this got to do with making an r1 link pipe fit a cbr 6 exhaust and a scorpion slipon straight through end can? nothing.

and george don’t give a shite about it either.

Make bikes, not lawnmowers!

looks like when the season is over, i get to make second hand lawnmowers! ‘m thinking mirror polished decks and performance exhausts lol

back to proper bikes, went on a sunday spin the other day despite being wrecked tired, spotted this nice katana

everything is perfect except the upside down bars. fecking idiotic.

During the week it was time to service the poor cbr, got it a new sprocket carrier bearing.

old one was rusty toast. Then i had a go off turning the cbr into a hypermotard.

thats a tdr125 seat, ‘mazing how narrow the cbr is. Went to measure seans cr250 to figure out what the seat/bar/pegs triangle is. cr is in bits. bugger.

think i can raise the seat at  3″, i think seat to pegs should be about 21″ if i want to change from seated to stood up easily. I plan to drop the pegs anyway, should need less seat height then and the bars wont have to be sky high then, less space for underseat tank on the other hand…

awesome day

first day off work today, so had a lazy morning then got cracking,

the bajaj got another carb, dellorto 21.5 left over from the runner plus the ginormous air filter.

It was still misbehaving after that so i stripped off the tin ware to have a look just in case and then replaced the coil with something that had been left out side in the rain for 4-5 years and not just one winter.

And by fuck it worked! reved out sweetly but hung so it’s lean, least i can find jets for this carb, but it may be a better idea to buy another 24mm oko, since i have a few jets for that. Second hand expansion pipe, shorten up the inlet, 8000rpm CDI and some porting. Yeah still slow but i think thats not really goning to be a bad point.

Then the day got even better, new helmet arrived and the fooker fitted! 😀 goes well with new jacket too.

Can’t wait for first paycheck

New job is fun

I’m officially a mechanic now, i actually have a job fixing engines, ok its only lawn mower engines, but it does have its advantages, like the first pair of tractor tyres like below that turn up i’m nicking them to change the tuktuk into an offroad terror/survival vehicle.

the 7 foot long two stroke two man chainsaw, i’m keepin as a secret project……

bajaj nearly there

Bad news! i got another job, so yep less interesting things on the poor blog, like welding rusty bits of scrap to other rusty bits of scrap. But more money for shiny things, like tzr 3ma fairings and tdr 250 exhausts.

well times slipping away, sorted a switch for the brake lights.

And a beefy battery box.

Not pictured is the bungee cord to hold the battery in and the wiring for one of the rear lights, the vespa mismash of the ac and dc systems have me a little nervous, but i think i have it now.

fecking thing won’t start now again.

Luck.

bad luck, getting a puncture at speed.

good luck, finding a half spent can of tyre repair at the closest petrol station.

bad luck, hole in the tyre is too big.

good luck, not having to go to work tonight 😀

tomorrows gonna be hard, what the frag am i going to fix? sort the busa? the runner? 10 year old spare cbr6 tyre? star trek like transport system for pizza’s? wouldn’t be such a pain if there was a tyre repair place open…..
