Runner 180, O Ring.

0710Image002

It was just an O ring in the head (around the spark plug)! thank feck, spent a while trying to find a new one in town, before giveing up and smearing it with gasket sealent. then i remembered the 125 one might have done the job.

Probably gonna have to do it again now.

Leaking runner 180.

0709Image000

Runner seemed fine no problems, so i gave it a bit of tlc by sticking the plastics on.

0709Image001

fixed up the side bit with green zip ties, matching!

0710Image000

straight away it sprung a leak. bloody senstive italian.

0710Image001

And now i have to take all the plastics off again. grr. Leak seems to be coming from the skull gasket, but it’s also over heating so it’s probably the oil/water pump belt after snapping, just like steves one. except i drove it further with no oil ๐Ÿ˜€

0709Image002

Got sparks with the starlet engine! no we don’t know what we wired to what or why and it probably won’t work again after it’s solderd up.

Runner 180, resurrection.

0703Image000

Crashed it already. Thats not the first time that rack has claimed a bike, out braked and R1 and smashed it’s headlight last year too.

0703Image001

Fake carbon fiber levers i bought years ago and never fitted, cheap horrible things, don’t have brass liner in the pivots like the standard gilera fare.

0703Image002

Only real casualty of being in ditch for 2 years, perished fuel line, thank fuck i didn’t put on all the plastic before i found this leak.

0704Image000

I am positively itching to ride this thing. only two glitches happened, the temp sender fell off the head and the alternator plug (just ahead of the peg in that pic) fell out.

It is so hard to describe the difference between 2 and 4 stroke, I had to take slower back roads while running this engine in (new mains years ago) and the effortless feeling of just coasting along on minimal squirts of throttle makes it feels so torque-ie , limp four stokes need constant throttle to maintain speed. Already i am thinking of how to make a faster one ๐Ÿ˜€

Recipe for disaster.

Ingredients:

big crosser engine,ร‚ย  larger block of aluminium, snow mobile cvt transmisson.

Directions:

chop off crosser gearbox, keep primary drive gears for later. turn engine 180 degree’s and lay it exhaust port down, attach cvt trans to crank end and weld big block of aluminium to left crankcase side. drill holes for rear cvt auto clutch, mount that all up, you will notice that it’s running backwards if you stick a wheel on, so next step is to use the primary drive gears (you did save right?) to make a rear tranmission case.

actually scrap all that, if you mount the cvt onto the the primary gear layshaft (of the crosser) the speed increase will lower the torque going throught the cvt belt, makeing a boggo 180 cvt able to handle the power, need really light rollers though. and probably a new rear gearbox to change the speed of the rear wheel. hmm needs more (salt?) though.

Presentation:

Stuff into any 50cc moped and give the police the finger at every set of lights.

ep70 starlet, 4ef engine conversion. pt3.

0626Image000

Fixed last tank leak, will be insured this friday ๐Ÿ™‚ it’ll rain ๐Ÿ™ also will be insured on the runner 180!

0626Image000

more little things done, vacuum hose’s sorted and tubes bunged up.
0626Image000

quick spray over where the petrol leaked through and destroyed the last coat of paint.
0626Image000

Fingers crossed this only needs a switch-able 12v supply to make the sparks appear!
0626Image000

if i had a few spare quid i’d just go and buy an ep80 down pipe to match the 4efe manifold, but i don’t, so some cuting and welding will be done.
0626Image000

red stuff is faster.

0627Image000

fuel pump from a kawasaki, will be making up a different mount point, i just shoved it in for the photo.

0627Image001

0627Image002

inside of distributor.

0701Image000

cat poked out of manifold.

got sort an exhaust gasket. and do tons of little things more. then it’s fingers crossed it starts okay.

rxs100 first drive.

0608image000

It lives! went for a blast up the road, nothing fell off and it seemed to carburate fine on a 120 main jet with the pipe and airfilter. foot pegs seem good gear change is impossible no nasty vibes from the handle bars (heavy bar ends doing there job) will get a number plate soon and sort proper insurance.

0608image001

Ted was fixing this thing up, bloody noisy clutch.

0608image002

Engine is ready to come out, had to jack it up like this and remove the wheels and disconnect the hubs to pull the CV joints free of the gearbox. Now it’s back on it’s wheel, will get engine out on thursday or friday, then steve said he’d help with bangin in the new engine.

0608image003

Saw this outside local shop v6 mk2 capri. starmags for wheels i think?

rxs100. Terminator style.

0605image000

First up needed to fix the brake light switch, top one is a broken brembo switch bottom one is a working grimeca from the dead runner 125.

0605image001

While paint and stuff was going on went for a long long spin, poor bike, going down to kerry again this weekend. done about 480 miles so far up and down to kerry.

0605image002

At last started to paint feckin expensive at รขโ€šยฌ28.

0605image003

nearly last coat, lacquer is on last.

0605image004

0605image005

0605image006

Not too bad eh? wiring loom is done now except to wire up a head light and maybe a kill switch. over the winter will do the rear wheel, or I will probably change my mind again about the paint/style. Went to see terminator salvation the other day, every time I see a post apoc film I get all sorts of evil ideas.

Paint and wiring

0525image000

Priming all done, middle fairing is wet, will be dull for the paint when it’s dry.

0525image001

Slaped on some triflow paint on the bare metal parts of the frame, then soldered on the tail light connections.

What’s left to do?

sort brake light switch

sort a rear brake (low priority)

fettle the front brake

get brother to paint fairings

find air filter oil

Headlight (want a smaller one)

When all thats done, a test drive will happen, then i shall discover the pegs rear to be more rearset and the forks need to be shorter and the bars are too high and when i kill or get sick of the engine (after the summer) i shall paint the rear wheel and do a better job of the front one and finally sort out a faster engine.

Malossi air filter, sava mc7 tyres, tank leak.

0523image000

Malossi air filter pod, should do the business. Fix the tank leak again, did not use enough hardener. used araldite.

0523image001

Fixed niki’s bike, if I find Paul’s brother(he did the wiring) I’ll strangle him.

0523image002

Started with the gold paint on the wheels, below is a a piece of plastic with the fiat green I want to put on the body work. Can’t see it very well.

0523image003

After i sprayed on the gold i read the can, 7 DAYS to dry? and it needs lacquer? fuck that. Never again am i painting any of my bike’s or car’s, way to much hassle not enough driving.

Rxs100 taillight sorted, more paint drama. tyres are here!

0520image000

Nice aprillia rs125, needed little modification to fit.

0520image001

Painted underside of tank and glued up the new holes i found.

0520image002

To much rain all together.

0520image003

Halfords filler primer.

0520image004

Silver paint that was lying around reacted and a decided against painting it silver, it would only work if he frame was red and that i can’t be arsed doing for a while. so it’s going to be British Racing Green with gold wheels. definitely this time.

0520image005

Yellow matches the shocks eh?

0520image006

Tyres and air filter turned up! dopes from easyparts.nl sent me the wrong type of rear tire but at least they charged me for the correctly for the cheaper tubeless, instead of the more expensive tubed tyre. i can run it wit a tube it’s not really a problem

What is a problem right now is that i have loads of work to do niki’s vl125 isn’t charging again and loads of the fourstar TGB’s need bits sorted for em. And paperwork needs doing license is out of date soon gotta sort that!

EDIT: got a haircut so i can’t tie my hair up anymore, i forgot i had such 80’s hair!

Tail and headlights. Micra with blown distributor.

0512image000

Got this off an early xt350, bout the right size and turned upside down matches the angle of the tail piece.

0512image001

Headlight will be a shallow spot I again dug up in the garden.

0512image002

will mount on a quick remove bracket to to the side like an endurance racer. will be stuck on high all the time but it allways was anyway, 6 volts not giving much light out anyway.

0512image003

Bastard to get right. In the end to much on and offing and bending of brackets got it in nearly the right place. Ended up flush with the tail piece instead of sticking out 1cm like I planned.

That light is now scrapped, brother found me a aprillia rs125 tail light that is shallow enough to be mount directly to the tail piece and much neater.

Not been busy over the last week or so, got stuff disconnected from the engine bay of the starlet ready to take the engine out just as the really wet weather hits ๐Ÿ™

The Girlfriends micra broke down, no spark, only now I find out that these cars have a weak point in the ampilfier which is buried in the distributor. 300 fucking euro for a reconditioned one, it was damn lucky it started right up after i installed it, was tempted to rip it all out and install megasquirt to avoid future problems with the NATS as well.
