The busa rebuild started, cbr6 build (nearly) finished.
Niki’s tank, it really does look like any year tank will fit.
I’m not actually allowed to work on the busa. cheapest busa i can find online is Γ’βΒ¬4000 and that’s a 01 with 47000km on the clock, mine has 7000 and is a 06, it’s mad to keep it, i should sell it on and buy quite a lot of entertaining bikes for the money i could get. ted wants me to keep the busa, said that he’d keep the busa and i could sell the R1. R1 is worth nothing. More annoyed that nobody can see that the sight of me on a brand new busa worth 6 grand is ridiculous, by the time I’ve gotten my moneys worth I’ll be 50+. One grand got me the cbr in the first place and that got me through 5 crashes and 40,000 miles, do that by Six and with Six different bikes and we’re talking timmy style then.
I’ve had 37 crashes, any other parent would be happy if i wanted to get rid of a bike that can do 186mph.
Front cage needs to come down a touch, cbr in the background is only stuck on the clocks (won’t fit with honda bars) and a decent sized zip tie to hold on the scottoiler.
Ted won his first race, bit late to become a racing superstar
BUSA!
BUSA!

BUSA spares!
Ahem enough of that now, as you can tell i’m a bit excited π got for roughly 23% of what a 2006 busa is worth. Gotta get loads of parts but it money well invested.
Got the new plugs in, had to file down the plug spanner, very tight in there. they were the only part holding me back.
so now the air filter is in, only difficult bit left is to take out the exhaust studs and replace em with bolts. once i got the tank and side panel on idecided to give the engine a spin over, no power π more stuff added to the list
cbr6 rebuild pt billion+1
Taking small bit’s out of the rebuild, so i’ve stop numbering it
Wiring loom snug next to the carbs, forgot to take a side pic but it’s nice should have tried this ages ago. Comes out under the frame by the radiator hose.
Battery box and finalised wiring loom. Note the worn foot peg rubber.
ass end in, note the right peg is brand new, found it out the back, both grips are like new as well so i’ve got to find a new left hand peg to make it good.
To much extra wiring loom, used to hide it behind the big nose, that’s not there now.
Niki’s tank, gonna be hard bodgeing to fix this. Not so easy to find a ez/gpz500 tank in he breakers.
Brother sprayed some spare cheap paint over my weller looks nice not sure what to match it with.
π π π π π BUSA! π π π π π
π should be picking it up tomorrow, got if for an unreal price, I won’t believe there’s not some sort of hitch until I have the logbook in my hand. it’s a ’06 low mileage good tyres have to buy a head lamp and bend the bracket got spare slightly damaged fairings and the standard exhaust pipes ,Γ’βΒ¬70 extra, but probably worth it, I’ll see how loud those pipes on it are first.
cbr6 rebuild pt4
Much work done, little to show for it, wiring is in but needed redoing twice, first the back piece had to be put behind the subframe and now the front piece which is normally outside the frame has to go inside, because the previous owner chopped off the mounting buttons for it. Gotta chop off the ignition barrel to the wiring fit in and around the holes of the frame, more work but it will look very tidy when it’s done.
Ripped the nose off the dr750 nose piece, much better. have to find a katana nose piece to fit on now.
Didn’t take any more pics after that got in a bit of a frenzy fitted the carbs rear tail piece battery box foot pegs and tore into the old cbr to canablize it airbox and coolant tank.
I’m still in high gear right now all excited about picking up the new bike tomorrow, finding out howto remove the 186mph limit oh and it’s got efi so i’m all plans and hamster wheels in my head right now π
So busy nothing got done, ez500, gpx250
Niki and i spent a day going to buy this:ΓΒ (we sorted the worlds problems on the way down in the car)
needs a tank and a shock plus some tidying, on 10,000 miles on the clock, Γ’βΒ¬300
Bonus i though i’d get the tank and the shock off the gpz500 at sarges that i swapped for some work and the gn125. turns out it’s a gpx250. well sod.
Kinda like this engine, might do something with it, no idea what.
what else, got some money for that crash at christmas, got more money from 4star, got engine loom onto the cbr, might be getting a hypersportstourer soon (a limited to 186mph type one,) i’ll still get the slabside as well just not so soon, give me a chance to buy a very nice one. Sorted a laptop for the brother, what else? mum found me a leather jacket and remembered to give me my christmas pressie (tk-max Γ’βΒ¬40). So yeah doesn’t look like much but i was running around like my arse was on fire for two days there.
bastarding cruisers
got nothing done, niki came up to do a simple service, brake oil filter, sump plug stripped, much cursing, the cheap magnet one we bought from wemoto had a fecked up thread, cheap crap, so we found the old sump plug and i welded the magnet plug to it and beacuse the old sump plug had a longer thread, it fitted and there was rejoicing. the time is well past to sell that 125 and get a better bike.
Sarges sidestand snapped off and sent his bike through the front window, so that got welded back on too.
I got the handlebars on the cbr.
cbr6 pt3
gold and red, classic
threw bits of body work on while chatting bollocks with sarge and didn’t do much else, the combination of magnolia bodywork and ice white wheels are blegh. the red is much better in real life, it’s so red the phone camera can’t take it.
cbr6 rebuild pt2
if there’s enough parts left over I’m gonna make a hypermotard out of what’s left, fit a tank under the seat make the seat really far forward nearly on top of the carbs and fit some crosser bars, looks like i am missing all the spacers though.
it was like archaeology, shovels were used.
and that took all day!
na i got more stripped off the old cbr and fitted the new swingarm in and bolted up the engine and rear shock, to beat to take photos π
cbr6 rebuild pt1
Very red ain’t it? brother spayed a bit of lacquer on it, looks great on the swingarm (which dried properly in the car) but not so great on the frame (which stayed out side)
chuck a few bolts in, missing a few spacers.
Began stripping the old cbr, wire loom has to come out under the frame spar.
i can see why people like short bike with high tails, but it only looks good when your standing very close and it looks worse when some one looks as you drive along.
why does my phone keep losing the ends of photos? this is the wireing loom off.
Didn’t get much done today, was half planning to get both cbr’s running keep the old one as a track bike and the new one as a daily driver, but it looks like I’m missing to many bits, which is a bugger to be honest, anyway will go like hell tomorrow, throw the bike on the ground and just git er done.
bajaj re 2s
Well, i bought this, worth it for the log book alone, but it will go back on the road pretty much as is since it only has 114km on the clock we’ll use it till it pops. it’s powered by a vespa px150 so that’ll be easy to pick up and throw away, stage two will see a tzr250 engine slotted in, but first the stage one plan. Weld up the holes, fitΓΒ better brake lines (the originals depend on the steel pipes bending with the suspension) new tyres and we’ll see where that gets us.
The space tyre is nice eh? only 13 years old, take 50 psi too, its probably a trailer tyre. Maybe some atv wheels might fit..
The big hole, think we’ll re route the cables outside the channel to help with welding and repairs. Will be replacing the hole with at least 1mm thick sheet, maybe 1.2 gotta measure things up
Probably could replace this end with a vespa aftermarket disc braked front. the drums are fine but not the cable operated ones.
long bar there is for the starter handle, wanna keep that, works quite well and is a unique feature (also it would break sarge wailing on the handle with a 250cc engine :)ΓΒ )
tub really does look like a mini jeep don’t it? if i could find a quad… Also reckon i’ll paint “to scared to drive it” under the sign and leave it as is
Can’t quite tell but the engine may bolt off the diff/box which would be great for stage two, could keep reverse with the tzr250 engine. Diff needs welding up.
plan is to weld a large Y section from this head stock back to the rail in front of the engine, it will stiffen up the chassis and provide a good place to sit.
smoke! it lives! phew somebody put two stroke in the petrol.
Most important thing about this is that it is insurable on a bike policy, which is hugely useful for sarge and even me, no separate policy’s and our no claims bonus stands.
Also got back my cbr6, so the rebuild of that starts in earnest tomorow, once iv’e gotten the jago onto four wheels thinks I’ll start on the bajaj then, xtdr350 will have to wait a bit more.
