damn you ice!
busa fairings: got 100gbp back so i will try and paint either the tank or the front farings to match. eventually.
Today was finaly a bit warm. last night i put the helmet on in antipation of a ride and it felt very very good! been off the bike so long now that when i put on the boots this morning i had to resize the straps, my calfs have gotten bigger with all the walking. I’m sick of walking.
Though i’d have a play with the bike since it’s been neglected for so long, swapped on a matching front tyre, old one a completely different profile.
Gave the wheel a quick degrease, absolute pita, why did i bother?
Ice claims another hose nozzle thing.
And back in one piece, much more neutral handling, off for a spin and i break my arai’s little plastic visor lock, what am i getting for christmas? 🙂
cbr6 is it rat now?
little update to the cbr6,
been driving around for ages with out the nose, and yesterday i decided to hack it up and paint it and slap it on.
I’ve yet to get used to it, i may paint the screen magnoila too.
front edge of the right tooth is a little dodgy, an angle grinder is not a precision tool.
I like how the red flows from the frame to the nose, but a black surrounding the nose looks a little awkward, meh when it stops raining and the light is better i will take photos and plonk it on ratbike.org, pity that site doesn’t have comments, i’d be the outcast of the outcast community 🙂
Busa fairings
A big box from china arrived the other day.
Yup, bastards.
Do you see the resemblance?
Anyway, also this week I’ve been helping niki with his gpz500, here we are getting the mateing surface’s quite clean.
Then i was playing with the 3ma’s carbs, at first i was happy to see the 210 main jets, but then i looked closer.. mismatched bits and the carb icing circuit was beyond saving.
also there 30mil carbs ? should be 32mm on a 3ma1.
spares are 32mm, whew, reckon they switched to the 30mm carbs and used the bigger carbs 210 jets and a few other bits to compensate for the race exhaust and the autolube. I’ll just buy some bigger jets.
mikuni oil pump
Right sorting the oil pump leak, it seems to be coming from the spindle (which later i found out was a cam) so i figured there must be a seal on that, that isn’t working.
The plate/arm for the cable off here, can move the cam in and out a bit.
I know nobody can see it(phone cam), but this is what has happened, the top plate has a little finger on it that push’s the back of the cam in. That finger is worn quite a bit, hence that cam can come out and oil gets past the seal. Simple’s. No idea how to fix it though make another top plate with a new finger? finding a second-hand or even a new one is not easy.
grey sludge from the gearbox, No shops open today so I left it there to go find a new pump on the net. No luck so far.
Tzr250 3ma
oil pump still leaks, it had no gasket behind it but after fitting one it still leaks, looks like it’s from the spindle.
It lives! took it for a drive around the driveway then, first gear is very tall 🙂
Continuing my morbid fascination for crashed bikes, looks like this 3ma got smacked into the ground then the car keep going grinding what’s left ever further. epic.
Also the m6 rose joint turned up, so during the week I’ll try and get charlie to machine me up a proper gear lever.
Tzr250 3ma
Put it back together for a test spin, just to see what else it needs.
‘masing what some wd40 and a rag can clean.
Next day i’ll attack it with a new fuel filter and some premix to test the oil pump. HAVE to put rear body work on, legs would be fired in flash.
Also finally did the oil and filter on sarahs car. about a year after i said  would…
Tzr250 3ma
Had and exam today so left early and bascialy got nothing done coz I went for a spin.
modded spare airbox, hopefully that was attached to micks bike at one point and not mine 🙂
looks good from this angle.
This looks a bit wrongie, rod would have to have a generous bend to avoid the frame
bit of man glue to seal up the crack in the oil tank.
Inventor
Moved on from autocad to Inventor, I quite like what you can do with it, can’t wait until we are actually taught something instead of blindly clicking buttons whilst bored.
A friend i met in class is going to make this gear lever up for me, A friend with CNC is a friend indeed.
Also built a vane supercharger in Inventor, works fantastically but i haven’t sorted animations yet.

I got 7.7 litres/100km from the runner 180, the hayabusa actually use’s less… so I went up this morning to swap the clutch spring back to normal, can’t find box of spring now, doh!
So i worked on the tzr instead, oh look and airfilter! wasn’t expecting that.
that big fat pipe goes no where, i think it’s part of the VAJ system.
(EDIT: it the air in, supposed to be attached to the bottom of the airbox)
rusty pipes, not actually very rusty at all,
one of the advantages of rear pipes is no road crap being flung at them.
No identifying marks on the pipes.
(EDIT: Â they are SP Tadao ‘Jackals’, worth more then the bike 😀 )
Ugh, can you believe it actually ran on this?
Put proper front fairing on and sat an made noise’s.
Can of pj1 is full but the nozzle gave up.
New Toy! Tzr250 3ma
This toy even runs! abit..
Strip down commence!
first thing i did was put that kickstart on properly and put a non bent bolt with threads in it.
REBAR?!
Took off the oil tank, small crack in the flange, but it seems not to be leaking, so if thats not broke what else is broke that caused farmer boys to start running premix?
rear pads had exploded with rust, rolled freely after i levered the caliper off.
