more coffe, more work

Had busy day, finally stripped the forks off the yzf. mmm six-pots…

0609SSA40801

No more things found wrong thankfully

0609SSA40800

More things wrong with the truck, looks like a hub seal on this corner.

0609SSA40799

More holes on this side

0609SSA40798

But it’s all painted in one colour!

0609SSA40797

Other good news : adjusted the brakes fully, stops great now, slapped in a cheap boost gauge, only making half the boost it should so there is more power to come!

might have forgotten a few things, keep forgetting to bring a camera with me.

The bin has been modded.

Sorta fixed my door

Old one was held on with some nuts that weren’t even close to fitting.

0504SSA40783

putting the glass in was straight forward, even if i had to make my own holes.

0504SSA40784

nice n’ tight

0504SSA40785

looser then some derogatory term involving prostitutes.

0504SSA40786

old door top, hard part was getting the old glass out, all the screw’s were quite seized.

0504SSA40788

Did this make the passenger side quieter? nope, you can see it in the pics, the really LOUD banging while driving is actually the plastic trunking used for the upper spots, great, i’ll just duck tape that up, lovely!. now i can here the gearbox hitting some where and upper part of the roof rack is cracked in the middle. quiet is overrated. also the front right wheel bearings are rough 😐

half painted

blasted rain slowed me down, maybe next week.

0428SSA40782

New shoes!

Filled out the archs perfectly.

0418SSA40762

0418SSA40761

has a slide or two on the old tyres, idiot motorists on phones and shit, i try to leave loads of space for stoping but some muppets you just can’f forsee. also, cracks!

0418SSA40760

chassis patch not so tidy.

0418SSA40759

limit straps are in shite

0418SSA40758

offset comparison.

0418SSA40757

Also got a spare wolf fitted with a 9.00×16, might pop it onto the rim just to see what that size looks like.

0418SSA40756

bugger all done again

and now i won’t have a day off next week either, so noting will be done then either.

out for a spin last weekend, cold as!

0404SSA40747 0404SSA40748 0404SSA40749 0404SSA40750 0404SSA40751

ted painted the bike trailer

0404SSA40752

Looks a bit too dark, but i think i’ll go with it any way with limestone wolf wheels and roof.

0404SSA40753

Since nifty fifty 2014 will be allowing modified bikes (no idea of the rules yet) i’ve shelved the idea of using the vintage frame. can’t be chopping the nice frame up, also supercharger ;D

0404SSA40754

may need a wiring loom………

0404SSA40755

Also previously i greased up all the track rods and noticed the steering was a lot better, but i noticed one of the grease nipples was pretty much rusted away. today i grabbed the whole track rod a gave it a twist, SQUEEK SQUEEEK! new track rod there any way lol

poke the land rover

Still haven’t found a decent leafer forum to ask questions, should i join pirate4x4 and suffer the suggestions to add ten tons of iron and a kitchen sink or ollr.net and put up with the gay bashing…

any way took some under body shots to help identify thingys.

0314SSA40735

Some leakage, very small, but it’ll have to be fixed 🙁 skinky diesel.

0314SSA40736

only a small bit on the ground

0314SSA40737

Salisbury axle i think.

0314SSA40738

stone’s flung from the rear wheel through the tub, like bullet holes!

0314SSA40739

Lt77 gearbox, gotta take the top off and do that gearchange bush.

0314SSA40740

More lt77 bell housing

0314SSA40741

Encrusted, poked a load off and found the adjuster for the shoes.

0314SSA40742

More poking, needs painting.

0314SSA40743

Tried to take drum off, but needed some imperial bolts to screw in, and nope don’t have. The edge of the drum is all chipped from someone else trying to hammer the drum off. also the clicker on the adjuster won’t click, adjusted it anyway, brakes much improved but there is more to do, probably at the rear or just tighter clearance’s at the front, hard to tell what clearance is needed with out the clicks,

0314SSA40744

First chassis hole, not in a bad place but i’ll still have to weld upside down, hate that.

0314SSA40745

Got paint! bit darker then what i wanted, so i’ll just use it for the underside/chassis.

0314SSA40746

Series two and a half-ish

I think this qualifies as a hybrid, series IIa with a bunch of series III parts and the discovery 200 tdi engine and gearbox, got parabolic’s too. and defender doors…

0215DSC_0385

Only a bit of rust, but it’s all pretty solid

0215DSC_0386

0215DSC_0389 0215DSC_0387

Carbon fibre on a land rover?

0215DSC_0390

Brakes are improved with a servo, pity they really need a bleed.

0215DSC_0392 0215DSC_0393

Yeah em where’s me floor? long gone replaced with alloy plate and the foot wells have galvanised plate riveted in.

0215DSC_0394

That knob is gone, it gets in the way when your using both arms to turn the wheel. and you NEED both arms. it’s a little better now with 40psi in the front tyres.

0215DSC_0396

Not a bad idea.

0215DSC_0397

Door tops are from a lightweight, and need replacing. the door are early defender i’m told.

0215DSC_0399

With the other toys

0215DSC_0402

This had to go, to quote OLLR, it’s gay.

0215DSC_0391

Big improvement, not sure if i want the spots, will have to see during the dark.

0215DSC_0403

Disco box puts the gear lever a bit further back but not impossibly far

0215DSC_0395

No roof lining.

0215DSC_0398

What are these for?
